大年三十晚上，家家张灯节彩，每家每户都灯火辉煌。这一天晚上，出门在外的亲戚朋友们都会欢聚一堂，一起吃团圆饭。大家有说有笑。按照我们这儿的习俗，今天晚上每个人都不能睡觉，个个都要守岁，家家灯火通宵。
我们家乡还有一个习俗，那就是在正月初一的前晚上，也就是除夕那天，必须要把家里所有的垃圾全部清除干净，等到初一的时候，不能把垃圾扫出去，因为这一天再我们家乡被称为“财气节”。在这天，如果把垃圾扫出去，就等于把你的财气都扫走了。所以，我们在这天都要轻松许多，不用做家务。
